Introduction

PostFormat provides tools to facilitate the installation of programs, query device information, and access or apply certain Windows settings.

Use of PostFormat

Some actions may modify system settings, install software, create restore points, delete selected items, or generate files requested by the user.

PostFormat displays confirmations, statuses, or warnings where appropriate, but the user retains control over the actions they choose to run and must use the application only on devices where they are authorized to make those changes.

Software installation

PostFormat may use WinGet, Microsoft Store, official installers, and third-party pages to facilitate obtaining certain applications. Availability and results also depend on Windows, the sources, the network, and the corresponding provider.

PostFormat does not elevate itself. WinGet, Windows, or an external installer may request permissions through UAC, which must be accepted or rejected by the user.

Canceling a queue prevents pending operations from starting, but does not necessarily terminate an installer that is already active. There is no general rollback mechanism, and changes completed before cancellation may remain on the system.

Installed applications belong to their respective developers and are subject to their own licenses, terms, and policies. PostFormat does not grant rights over that third-party software.

System configuration and changes

The results of a configuration may vary depending on the Windows version, hardware, drivers, system policies, and other installed programs.

Before making significant changes, it is advisable to keep appropriate backups and, where applicable, use the restore features available in Windows.

PostFormat may request the creation of a restore point, but Windows may reject it because of configuration, availability, or permissions. A restore point is not a complete backup of personal files.

Cleanup and exported files

The cleanup feature may analyze and empty the Recycle Bin after the user selects and confirms the action. Deletion performed by Windows may be irreversible through PostFormat.

PostFormat may also export files included in the application to a location chosen by the user. The user decides whether to subsequently run those files and must review their purpose and scope before doing so.

Drivers and firmware

The information displayed about hardware, drivers, or BIOS is for informational purposes. Access to drivers is managed mainly through information and links to official manufacturer pages.

A notice based on the age of the BIOS date does not mean that PostFormat has verified that a newer version exists. PostFormat does not automatically install or update the BIOS.

Third-party services

Some features depend on external components or services, including Windows, WinGet, Microsoft Store, hardware manufacturers, and application providers.

These services may change, become unavailable, impose their own terms, or prevent certain operations. PostFormat does not control their operation or the decisions of the corresponding provider.

PostFormat and GYP Opti

GYP Opti is an optional and independent service. It is not part of the PostFormat software, is not required to use it, and is not automatically included when obtaining PostFormat.

PostFormat and GYP Opti currently share the same Discord server as a community, contact, and access channel. This shared channel does not make both services a single product or incorporate the terms of GYP Opti into these terms of use.

User responsibility

Use of PostFormat is the user's responsibility. The user must review the actions, confirmations, and warnings displayed before running them.

The user is responsible for their use of PostFormat, the actions they choose to perform, and maintaining any backups they consider necessary.

Limitation of liability

PostFormat is provided as an assistance tool to facilitate certain software configuration, maintenance, and installation tasks in Windows.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developers and distributors of PostFormat are not liable for damage, loss of data or configuration, incompatibilities, system failures, problems arising from third-party software or services, interruptions, or other consequences caused by the use or misuse of the application.

Use of PostFormat entails acceptance of the risks inherent in the actions the user chooses to run, without prejudice to rights and responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated to reflect changes to PostFormat, its features, or the services on which it depends.

The published version corresponds to the terms intended for the version of PostFormat it accompanies.
